Side Quest
Hi all! I’ve been scrolling through Pinterest and finding some pins to add to my vision board for this school year. It will act as my vision board for both fall 2025 and spring 2026.
As I’m looking at pins that are related to school vision boards, I’m seeing a lot that can be a little bit toxic if you let them get too much in your head. Yes, a vision board should be things that you are working towards, or pictures of the life you want to live. But, personally, I don’t think it is super helpful to have things such as “I only get good grades”, “I’m the top of my class,” or “I’m effortlessly a straight A’s student.”
It’s okay to aspire to be at that level, but you shouldn’t be focusing on that alone. Because, what happens if you get a bad grade? You will feel as though you can’t accomplish your vision board. It won’t seem as motivating.
So rather, I am focusing on pins like “do it for your future self,” “consistency” and “I am my highest priority.” None of these have specific goals that I can succeed or fail at. Rather they are ideas that I am working toward. If throughout this year I feel like I have focused on these goals, I will have succeeded. A vision board isn’t necessarily a check list. That’s what you can make a to do list or bucket list for. This is pictures and ideas that represent what you want in your life.
Anyway, my vision board is the picture at the top of this page! If you have any suggestions or think that anything on it isn’t healthy, please let me know!
